What osteopathy is?

Osteopathy is a manual health approach that emphasizes the relationship between the body’s structure (bones, joints, fascia, muscles, fluids) and its function. Practitioners use palpation and hands‑on techniques (osteopathic manipulative treatment, myofascial release, joint mobilization, cranial techniques, etc.) to identify and address restrictions that may contribute to pain or reduced function. What osteopaths typically do? -Assessment and differential formulation: take a history, perform a physical and palpatory exam, and form a working clinical impression focused on neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. - Manual treatment: apply a range of manual techniques to joints, soft tissues, and related systems to improve mobility, reduce pain, and support function. - Adjunct care: provide movement advice, self‑management strategies, and referrals to other health professionals when indicated.
